GIVE ME BACK MY RAGS
Music Theatre by Nela Trifkovic

Using her own unique blend of music, theatre and performance art, Nela Trifkovic's latest work sets the poetry of a modern Yugoslavian poet Vasko Popa who has also been described as "a savage romantic poet". This new cycle consists of a prologue and 13 songs. The musical influences are once again those of: Klezmer, Gypsy and Slavic music, but this time they travel from the spheres of ancient ethnic (such as the chant-like, Bulgarian influenced prologue) to the most "up to date" euphoric Yugo-cabaret like music that is evocative of the vibrant sound tracks to Emir Kusturica's films (such as cabaret style number "What About My Rags").
