About The Bread Trap
Vasso Kalamaras was born in Athens, Greece, and arrived in Australia in 1950. She taught Modern Greek at C.M.C. of Perth TAFE Campus for more than two decades. Vasso is one of the most published and translated Greek authors outside Greece. She writes poetry, plays, short stories and novels. Vasso is a member of Fellowship of Australian Writers WA, The Society of Women Writers, National Society of Hellenes Writers, Athens, and PEN International, Perth.
                 For her outstanding achievements, Vasso has received many awards including Australian Premier's Award for Fiction in 1990, Tsakalos Literature Prize for Prose in 1978, and Hellenism Award in 1992. Her work is represented in the World Anthology of Short Stories, The World of Anthology Poetry, Decade - an anthology of Western Australian short fiction and many other anthologies throughout Australia an overseas. Vasso was one of many migrant women involved in tobacco farming in Manjimup from 1950 -1961.
